What is a high visible transmittance window?

A high visible transmittance means more daylight presence in a given space and usually, a reduction in electric lighting and heating loads. Typical double-glazing windows show a visible transmittance of 78% and could show further reductions if low-E coatings and tinted films are included in its composition.

What are the components of double glazing?

The double glazing presents the following assembly: 3.2 mm AR glass, 8 mm argon-filled gap, 3.2 mm low-e glass. The absorber consists of a copper tube-plate meander (plate thickness = 0.3 mm, tube spacing = 95 mm, tube diameter = 10 mm) and a selective coating (αe = 0.94 ± 0.01; ε = 0.05 ± 0.02).

Which glass substrate has the highest transmission spectra?

The OTES-modified SiO 2 coating showed the highest transmission, around 94%, followed by the uncoated glass substrate with 91% transmission and the HS3 coating with a transmission of 87%. Fig. 4. What emissivity & transmittance should a solar coating be based on?

To ensure thermal and visual comfort in buildings, coating systems based on silver are primarily used, which can provide for extremely low emissivity (less than 0.03) and high visible transmittance (up to 0.90). Solar transmittance, however, is rarely higher than 0.60.
