Should batteries be in a separate room?

Battery rooms are considered hazardous (classified). So you'll need provisions for class I div II at minimum. read over article 500-504. If it is broken, fix it. If it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that. I don't believe there is an NEC requirement that batteries be in a separate room.

How do I choose a battery storage cabinet?

Capacity Requirements: Ensure the cabinet accommodates the quantity and size of batteries used in your workplace. Regulatory Compliance: Choose a cabinet that meets safety standards for Class 9 Dangerous Goods. Durability: Look for a heavy-duty lithium battery storage case designed for long-term use.
