What are supercapacitors & EDLC?

Supercapacitors also known ultracapacitors and electric double layer capacitors (EDLC) are capacitors with capacitance values greater than any other capacitor type available today. Supercapacitors are breakthrough energy storage and delivery devices that offer millions of times more capacitance than traditional capacitors.

How do you charge a supercapacitor?

To charge the Supercapacitor, a current of 100 mA is input to the Supercapacitor for 100 seconds. The Supercapacitor is then rested for one minute. For the next hour, to discharge the Supercapacitor, a load of 50 mA is stepped on for one second in every 50 seconds. The Supercapacitor is then rested until the end of the simulation.

What does t mean on a supercapacitor?

Constant current charging 10mA/F to rated voltage. Constant voltage applied for 5 minutes. t= Where t= discharge time, V0= initial voltage, V1= ending voltage, I= current. Supercapacitors have such large capacitance values that standard measuring equipment cannot be used to measure the capacity of these capacitors.
