How does a ups save energy?

Energy savings are achieved because the UPS is set to operate in either VI or VFD confi guration (line interactive or standby) operation. This will also result in a degradation of both power quality and backup power transfer time.

What is an uninterruptible power supply (UPS battery backup)?

An Uninterruptible Power Supply (aka a UPS Battery Backup) protects vital connected equipment -- computers, servers, and telecommunications equipment -- from power outages. During an outage, that small UPS Battery Backup under your desk at work gives you enough time to save your spreadsheet and properly shut down your computer.

Why are ups efficiencies above 90%?

The efficiencies of the individual UPS units are above 90% because they are operating at a high load factor. Power is distributed by independent paths to pairs of PDUs. Each PDU pair receives power from at least two UPS modules.

Why do you need an UPS system?

In terms of power quality, a UPS system will protect a critical load from power problems present on the AC power source: whether this is mains power or an alternative source such as a standby power generator. Typical power quality problems can include spikes, surges, electrical noise, transient voltages, brownout and harmonics.
