What is a sodium ion battery (SIB)?

A sodium-ion battery (SIB) is a sustainable energy storage technology based on abundantly available raw materials. It is a commercially viable option because of the processing similarity with Li-ion battery. Most of the energy storage studies focus on the near room temperature performance of different battery chemistries.

Can solar PV and sodium-ion batteries work together in Southeast Asia?

A new partnership aims to deploy an integrated solution combining solar PV with sodium-ion batteries at commercial and industrial (C&I) sites in Southeast Asia. Singapore-headquartered virtual power plant (VPP) company Blue Whale Energy announced earlier this week (24 June) that it is partnering with US sodium-ion (Na-ion) battery startup Unigrid.

Can solar cells be used for space exploration?
