Does Georgetown have a steam plant?

Even though the Georgetown Steam Plant hasn't produced electricity in more than 70 years, there's still a buzz about this place. Its biggest fan is Sam Farrazaino, President of the nonprofit Georgetown Steam Plant Community Development Authority, which signed a long-term lease to manage programming and operations of the plant.

How did the Georgetown power plant get its electricity?

By the time the plant began operating in 1907, much of the company's electricity came from hydropower, with steam generation used to increase peak-load capacity and as back-up against service interruptions. In later years the Georgetown plant remained largely idle, although it was maintained in operating condition for decades.
